The AAL branches of Immanuel and Atonement joined forces for a Picnic in the Park fund raiser for our family and the Arceneaux family, who are also moving to New Ulm this summer so Ken can enter the second career pastor program.  It was a wonderful event, with lots of fun for all – horseshoes, face painting, cotton candy, baseball, bounce house, and lots of entertainment including music by David Stohr, the Andrews Sisters, babrbershop quartet, “Who’s on First?” and much much more.

We’ve found a home!! What an exciting time Kevin and I had when we visited New Ulm the first weekend of June for a house hunting trip.  Here’s a look at the house we plan to buy!

This house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, an office area and a basement with potential for fixing up! It is only about a half mile fromt he kid’s school, and in New Ulm you can never be more than a half mile from a park!

The boys are excited to have stairs, and Stanley says it is perfect because it is blue!

I’m happy that our beds will fit – I didn’t want to give up my king size! HA!  We may have some difficulties with our kitchen table, because the eat-in kitchen doesn’t have a lot of room. I’m sure we will find some way to make it work.

Our plans are to spend a day cleaning and painting before we unload the moving van.  The boys room has dark paneling, and we would like to paint that before moving them in.

While we were in New Ulm, we enjoyed attending church at both St. John’s and St. Paul’s. We got to meet with the principal of the kid’s school, take care of some business at the college and walk through a few of the lovely stores in downtown New Ulm.  I already have a favorite restuarant, The Lamplighter, and we managed to eat there three times. Off to a good start!!

I already know what my goal is for our stay in New Ulm.  I want to buy a cuckoo clock from one of the German stores in town. Their selection was unbelievable!
