  • Christ’s Glory Brings Us Comfort

Posted on February 26th, 2006 Pastor Kevin Draper No comments

    Based On: Mark 9:2-9

    Christ’s Glory Brings Us Comfort

The Old Testament prophet Elisha was the best spy Israel could have.  He knew exactly what the King of Aram was going to do and when.  Of course it was God who supplied him that information, but the King of Aram was so frustrated by this he sent a large group of soldiers and chariots to capture Elisha.  They surrounded the town Elisha and Elisha’s servant were in.  The servant was terrified so Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.”  When the servant looked he saw horses and chariots of fire covering the hillside and surrounding their Aramean enemies.  What comfort that glorious sight must have given the servant.  As we approach Lent and focus on the suffering of Christ, we have an even greater comfort.  Christ’s glory brings us comfort.  It brings us comfort as Christ suffers and also as we suffer.

February is almost gone, and it is time for sharing the news from our neck of the woods.  As usual we have managed to stay very busy around our home this mornth.  A highlight of the month was watching the Olympics.

We enjoyed a PTO family fun night at the local health club and ended up with some cute photos of the group:

Vicar was the brave soul who dared enter the dodgeball zone.

    Benny had so much fun!

The boys have been very busy practicing for their upcoming musical – The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.  They will give two performances next Friday.  Check back for complete coverage.

Today the 5th – 8th graders took their much anticipated field trip to the local ski mountain.  Kevin went along for the fun and he and Stanley report that skiing is a blast (after they got over falling down).  Here’s some photos of the Draper skiers. Watch out!!!

  • Hurricane cleanup

I don’t know about other folks (I suspect you are the same), but I continue to watch from afar the recovery efforts that are going on in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  My heart hurts for what I consider “my people” as I am a southern girl at heart and many of my family and friends were affected by the storm in some way.  So I am happy to stay connected through first-hand reports of WELS recovery efforts.  I thought I would share some of these resources with you, in case you were interested in following them as well: Read the rest of this entry »

  • Spring is just around the corner!

Posted on February 2nd, 2006 Sallie 2 comments

It was an early morning for the Draper boys as they took part in a Sun Prairie, WI (groundhog capitol of the world) tradition and waited at the town square for the arrival of Sun Prairie’s very own weather predicting ground hog, Jimmy, at 7:10 a.m. this morning.  Jimmy arrived in a limo wearing a top hat & bow tie and proudly proclaimed that he did not see his shadow and therefore spring time is just around the corner.  Thanks, Jimmy, for the great news!  🙂
