Lenten Meditation – The Keys and Confession

Tonight let us look at Mark chapter 15, verse 37.  “With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.”  It was finally over.  After hours of pain, torture and the shedding of much blood it finally ended.  Christ was dead and our sins were paid for.  It was Christ’s suffering and his last breath that won forgiveness for our sins.

The Bible mentions Jesus’ breath one other time.  That was on the third day after his death on the cross.  In the evening of that first Easter Jesus came to the disciples while they were in that locked room and the Bible says, “he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.  If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.’”

The two events are intimately connected. On Good Friday Jesus died on the cross and paid the price for every sin that anyone has ever or will ever commit.  On Easter Sunday Jesus tells his disciples, and therefore he tells the church, that they have the power to forgive or withhold forgiveness for sins.  Read the rest of this entry »

Our “geofish5” team (plus Casey the Wonder dog) spent a beautiful afternoon outside hiking to three different geocache locations.  Wanted to share some pictures of the fun:

Benjamin found this cache covered with leaves in a hole near the base of the bush.

Welcome back to the Draper’s Diary!  We’ve had another busy month and we have lots of highlights of the fun posted here so make sure you scroll down to read all of our March posts.  Our month started out with a visit from Kevin’s parents, Jack and Judy.  The kids were THRILLED with our visitors, which was a total surprise to them.  Grandma & Papa made the special trip to be here for the boys school play, The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.  We all had a wonderful time at the play – the boys enjoyed performing and the adults loved watching the fun.  There’s tons of pictures, audio and video coverage posted below.

One of my favorite pieces of software is Microsoft Photo Story, which allows you to display your photos as a slide show, complete with motion and sound.  That was just what I had to do with the tons of great photos we ended up with from the school play.

Click the title or the image to watch the Windows Media (.wmv) slide show.

  • The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf

Posted on March 11th, 2006 Sallie No comments

Last Friday, all three of our boys were involved in the Peace Lutheran School 50s-style musical, The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.  Luke and Benjamin were part of the wolf pack and Stanley was The Boy Who Cried Wolf.  All of the kids did an AWESOME job and had a fabulous time in the process!!!  We thought you would enjoy watching and listening to a bit of the fun.

    Listen to the entire play (.mp3 – 44 minutes – 13 MB)

Listen to The Boy Who Cried Wolf (.mp3 format – 5 minutes – 1.5 MB)

The video clip is about 5 minutes of the section of the play in which Red Riding Hood, Peter (from Peter and the Wolf), and The Boy Who Cried Wolf present their testimony to the judge.  It is in Windows Media (.wmv) format and should begin playing when you click the title or image below.

Lenten Meditation – The Apostles’ Creed

Martin Luther said there are three things every Christian should know:  the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Lord’s Prayer.  These are the starting points for a study of the Christian faith and Luther made them the first three parts of his Small Catechism.

Tonight we continue our Lenten series on Luther’s Small Catechism as we look at the second chief part of the Catechism – the Apostle’s Creed.
