  • Watch for your Savior!

    Based on: Mark 13:32-37

    Watch for your Savior!
    (.mp3 – 5.2 MB)

Did you ever wonder just how the wise men from the east knew to watch for the savior? How did they know when they saw that special star in the sky that the “King of the Jews” had been born?  Some suggest the prophet Daniel, an exile in Babylon, told the wise men of Babylon about the promised Savior more than 500 years before Christ was born.

  • It is good to be content … with friends

    Based on: Philippians 4:10-20

It is good to be content … with friends
    (.mp3 – 3.3 MB)

First, I need to explain the theme printed in the bulletin, “It is good to be content . . . with friends.”  I do not mean to say that with you need to be content with the friends you have even if they are a little less than desirable.  No, what I mean is that we can be content no matter what we have and while we are content God gives us our fellow Christians with whom we can enjoy our contentedness.

  • Another Scratch game

Posted on November 25th, 2008 Sallie No comments

Here’s a post that fell between the cracks in the site move.  It was there on the old Draper’s Diary site as of last night, but it didn’t get moved to the new site.  Not a biggie if that is all that didn’t make it over.

Stanley and Ben collaborated to create this Scratch game.  Move your mouse to help the bat grab all the sunglasses.  Press the stop sign when you get tired of this because it is never ending!  Have fun!

  • A big change going smoothly – we hope!

While things may look the same on the Draper’s Diary, behind the scenes we’ve moved our txnetstars.com domain – all of the files and databases – to a new hosting provider.  After a few nail biting moments, it seems like most things are working ok.  This post is a test of the WordPress blogging software that powers the Draper’s Diary.  Hopefully it is going to work just fine when we publish!  Here goes…

  • Sharing a Scratch game

Posted on November 23rd, 2008 Sallie No comments

The boys are enjoying learning computer programming with Scratch.  Stanley created this rather complex multi-level game and we wanted to see if we could make it work on our web site.  He’ll have to share detailed rules and tips for playing later, but basically you are the guy in black and you want to pick up all the coins and get rid of the knights to get through the door to the next level.  Eventually you meet up with a couple of tougher opponents.  Fun stuff!  Click the image to play.

  • 1000 Monkey Songs

Posted on November 16th, 2008 Sallie No comments

Kudos to Benjamin on completing 1,000 Monkey Songs on his violin!  His teacher gave him a challenge this fall to play the Monkey Song one thousand times to improve his hand position on the violin, and last Wednesday night we all gathered around to hear him finish the challenge.  We thought you might want to hear it too!

Benjamin turned 9 this week and some of his birthday money went towards purchasing a new video game, deBlob.  The goal is to “paint the town” your favorite color, and yesterday he and I faced off in a head-to-head battle to paint the most buildings.  Here’s a photo of the fun!  🙂
