Most of us see the sun every day. What most of us don’t realize is that the sun is so far away, it actually takes the light from the sun eight minutes to reach Earth. We see the sun as it was eight minutes previously. Applying this to the stars, we are actually seeing the stars as they were hundreds or even thousands of years ago. In fact, some of the stars in our sky might have already gone nova and no longer actually exist, but the light from them is still reaching us.

      Hi Stanley,

WOW! That was very interesting to read. I love the way you write. Now, when I see the sun every day, I’ll know it is so far away. ; )

      Love from Grandma
