11/24/01 - Greetings to you all and welcome back to the Draper’s Diary.
Once again we have had a very busy month. I’m even writing this a few days later than I normally do because I have had a full calendar. Tonight I am enjoying a quite evening after the long Thanksgiving break. Tomorrow we are anxiously awaiting the first real snow of the season. Our boys can hardly wait. Kevin has them excited about shoveling the snow!!! I wonder how long that will last!
Since our last update we enjoyed our first football game at MLC.
We got to see Darren and Lori Knoll and their new baby, Cooper. Darren was our Vicar at Immanuel, Ft. Worth last year. We even visited with Jacki Moyle, an old friend from our days at Atonement in Plano! What a treat. The fall weather was perfect for the game, and the boys had a great time.
On October 22nd, Kevin had his appendix removed.
He was stricken with stomach pain around 12:30 p.m. and had the surgery at 6:30 p.m. that evening. We were so very thankful for the medical attention he received. The surgery was done laproscopically, which made his recovery very fast! He only missed a few days of classes and was able to get his work caught up rather quickly.
Since he was feeling so much better, we went ahead with our plans for a costume party on the 27th of October.
Much fun was had by all who attended!
November 11th was Benjamin’s 2nd birthday.
He enjoyed his cupcakes as well as his fun gifts. He got lots of cool Vegi Tales stuff, his favorite! Benjamin is quite the explorer these days. He likes to get a chair and climb to things he can’t reach. He learned to say “HELP”, and one day when we dropped his big brothers off at school, he yelled, “Help”, over and over as I carried him out of the classroom and building.
We made it to lots of fun events including Stanley’s first piano recital. He will be playing in a Christmas concert and has been working very
hard on “Away in a Manger” for that.
We saw Excorde, a WELS contemporary Christian band in concert at MLC. Also at MLC, we went to a concert of the MLC Wind Symphony and a performance by the Ballet Folklorico Mexico. And, we got to attend a concert by the St. Paul’s School choir and band. They did a great job.
Finally, we have enjoyed the 5 day Thanksgiving break very much.
We decorated our house for Christmas, did some shopping and went to the parade of lights (click here for parade photos).
Just a few more weeks of school and our first semester at MLC will be behind us! We have a busy calendar in December, so be sure to come back next month for more news.
