We’ve added two new photo albums to our online gallery with pictures from this month. First is the collection of photos from Graduation Day and the party that followed:

Next we added a gallery of photos of our family along with the other three second-career families from the Class of 2007, the Bolwerks, Burks and Rogases. We took family pictures a few weeks ago on the beautiful Seminary campus. Kevin’s Mom, Judy, framed a set of the images for each family as a special rememberance of the years we have spent together:

We are still basking in the excitement of the past two days, and want to share with you some of the special memories from all of the events. Tops on the list was the performance of the graduating class hymn, “In Christ Alone” by Stuart Townsend and Keith Getty. Kevin’s classmate, Mark Shutz, directed and they were accompanied by a host of gifted musicians including Molly Taylor, wife of classmate Brad Taylor, on violin and Joey Schumann who played uilleann bagpipes and tinwhistle. Enjoy!

The day we have been waiting for is finally upon us. In less than 12 hours we will attend the 2007 Call Day Service at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and hear the announcement of where Pastor Kevin L. Draper will have the privilege of beginning his public ministry. Our anticipation and joy are enormous at this point!

If you are unable to be with us in person, we invite your prayers and wanted you to know that you can view the Call Day Service at 10 a.m. Central time live via the Internet on WELS online media network, Streams –

Click on the “Live” tab to tune in. The service program is also available for download. Following the service a list of the graduate assignments will be available for download from the site.

Today we received this beautiful goodbye gift from the First Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva quilting group. Kevin served their congregation as Vicar this year. They said they hope we’re some place cold where we can use it. Does that mean Alaska is in our future??? 😉

We had a fun Friday and wanted to share a few pictures of our clan. The boys are enjoying spring time and Mom and Dad are enjoying the fact that we are only 13 days away from call day! Tonight was the senior/faculty banquet and a great time was had by all!

  • April 2007 News

It seems it is becoming a tradition to report our monthly news a day late. 😉 I guess that gives you some idea of how our month has gone. The best word I can think of to describe it is “blur”. I don’t know where the days go, but I do know that the faster they go, the closer we get to May 24th & 25th, Kevin’s Call Day and Graduation! Yippee!! The excitement is definitely mounting. Only 23 days from now we will know where we are moving.

April started off with a wonderful celebration of Jesus victory over death on Easter Sunday. We had a great day, complete with the traditional bunny cake (photos below). All of the boys were on Spring break the following week and they took advantage of the holiday to visit Grandma and Grandpa Draper, Uncle David & crew in Michigan. They even did some geocaching in the snow while they were there.

Speaking of geocaching, April brought us a first on the geocaching front – we were actually “First to Find” or FTF on a newly hidden cache. This is a big deal in the geocaching world, and I must say my heart was beating a bit fast as we unrolled the cache log sheet to see if anyone had signed it before us. Alas, it was blank, and we were thrilled! We even got a second FTF this past weekend!

This past Sunday we traveled back to our vicar congregation, Peace in Sun Prairie, WI for confirmation. Last year Kevin taught the class of students who were confirmed so it was great to be there for their special day. Adding to our joy was the fact that Kevin had the privilege of preaching at the 8 a.m. service.

Our house selling efforts have not reaped any benefits to this point despite the fact that we’ve advertised and had two open houses. There are a lot of houses on the market right now, but we are confident our house will stand out to just the right buyer soon.

We’ll close with an Easter pic and a request for your continued prayers for Kevin’s classmate, Jon. A recent scan shows his body is cancer free, but he still has one more round of chemo to complete before graduation. May our Risen Savior bless, guard, guide and keep you all in the one true faith!
